EXPLORATION OF THE SOUL

EXPLORATION OF THE SOUL

1994 Tracey Emin (1963 − )

“I am interested in life; art for me should be an experience. Exploration of the Soulis inspired by the first 13 years of my life – from the moment of my conception to losing my virginity against my will. The book is a mental journey – my coming to terms with beauty, innocence and evil combined. I sold the book for £50 a copy before I wrote it, that’s how I raised the money to publish the book (I thank all those who trusted me). The book was taken on a one month journey across America, where I did a series of performances – reading the book - accompanied by my Grandmother’s chair and Carl Freedman.”
