BRITISH ART 1900-1955

The exhibition curated at the particular request of the Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, comprised an introductory section of 19 paintings covering the early years of the 20th century, while the main section of 78 paintings and 18 sculptures showed the more important developments in British art. The sculpture section concentrated on work by younger sculptors.

  • Sculpture

    A three-dimensional work of art. Such works may be carved, modelled, constructed, or cast. Sculptures can also be described as assemblage, in the round, relief, and made in a huge variety of media. Contemporary practice also includes live elements, as in Gilbert & George 'Living Sculpture' as well as broadcast work, radio or sound sculpture.
