An exhibition of 8 drawings and 24 paintings. Auerbach shared the Leone d'Oro prize for the best artist with Sigmar Polke.

A catalogue, with a preface by Henry Meyric Hughes and an essay by Catherine Lampert, was published by the British Council to accompany the showing in the British Pavilion, Venice. ISBN 0 86355 037 1.

The exhibition was expanded for the showings in Germany and Spain with the addition of 20 paintings drawn from mostly private collections in the UK and USA.

A catalogue (German only), with essays by Ulrich Krempel, Karl-Egob Vester, Paul Bonaventura and Catherine Lampert, was published by the Kunstvein Hamburg and the Museum Folkwang, Essen to accompany the Germany showings. No ISBN.

A catalogue (Spanish only), with essays by Antonio Saura, Paul Bonaveture and Catherine Lampert, was published by the Centre de Arte Reina Sofia to accompany the Madrid showing. ISBN 7506 199 0
