The British Council's Visual Arts department recently invited eight prominent Japanese curators to the UK for a research trip with an emphasis on learning more about the contemporary visual arts sector in the UK and making connections with curators and organisations for future collaborative projects. The group included representatives from the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and the National Museum of Art in Osaka.

The curators embarked on a ten-day tour, visiting around 30 galleries and museums in London, Glasgow, Newcastle and Nottingham, to meet with influential curators and gallerists at a wide range of public and private arts venues including Tate Britain, Gasworks, White Cube, and Baltic.
