Committed to strengthening links between arts institutions in the UK and overseas, The Visual Arts Department regularly facilitates exchange visits for arts professionals.
This film documents a visit to the UK by eight prominent Japanese curators in 2010. This research trip focussed on introducing the contemporary visual arts sector in the UK and making connections with curators and organisations for future collaborative projects. The group included representatives from the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and the National Museum of Art in Osaka.
The curators embarked on a ten-day tour, visiting around 30 galleries and museums in London, Glasgow, Newcastle and Nottingham, to meet with influential curators and gallerists at a wide range of public and private arts venues including Tate Britain, Gasworks, White Cube, and Baltic.
