Richard Hamilton (1922 − ) THE SOLOMON R GUGGENHEIM (WHITE)

Hamilton's interest in process, aesthetic or technical, led to a series of reliefs and studies that echoed the design of buildings or appliances. The original Guggenheim Relief was cast in fibreglass in 1965-66 (Tate Collection www.tate.org.uk), Although the idea of a multiple version had been mooted, it was not until 1970 that xartcollection, Zurich were able to produce these in vacuum formed plastic which had the virtues of being both relatively straightforward and economic to manufacture.
