Chris Ofili (1968 − )

Chris Ofili was born in Manchester in 1968 and came to prominence in the early 1990s with his densely orchestrated paintings. He won the Turner prize in 1998 and has exhibited in many international institutions over the past decade. In June 2002 he presented new work in his exhibition Freedom One Day at the Victoria Miro Gallery, London. His work was shown in the British Pavilion at the 2003 Venice Biennale.
