Edward Wakeford was born in the Isle of Man; he studied at Chelsea School of Art , where he later taught, and at the Royal College of Art. Wakefield was appointed an ARA in 1969. He exhibited at the Hanover Gallery and Brook Street Gallery, in 1973 a memorial exhibition was mounted at the Fieldbourne Galleries and, in 1986, his work was shown at Abbot Hall Art Gallery.
