THAMES SIDE

1948 John Minton (1917 − 1957)

Minton was encouraged to make lithographs, using especially prepared transfer paper, for the Miller’s Press, and later became associated with the Society of London Painter-Printers founded by the Miller’s Press in conjunction with the Redfern Gallery, London. This work was included in the first exhibition of the Society of London Painter-Printers shown at the Redfern Gallery in 1948. The print is a re-working of his painting of 1946, Rotherhide from Wapping, now in the collection of Southampton Art Gallery ( www.southampton.gov.uk/art/).
